Front Cover of PPSC Journal for A nano “Passion Fruit”

Voliani front Cover from PPSC Journal

One of the main concern about the clinical translation of inorganic nanoparticles is related to the accumulation of metals in organisms.

Valerio Voliani and co-workers have introduced the passion fruit-like nano-architectures; silica nanocapsules comprising ultrasmall metal nanoparticles that degrade to kidney-clearable building blocks after their therapeutic or diagnostic action. Moreover, they have demonstrated their application as carriers for cisplatin prodrug. Such an approach is promising to engineer theranostics able to fill the gap between inorganic nanomaterials and oncology.
