Education:
2007: PhD in Chemical Sciences University of Pisa, Pisa – Italy
2003: M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry (Italian Laurea Degree) (110/110 cum laude) University of Pisa, Pisa - Italy

Research interests:

•Synthesis of photocleavable molecules for delivery in living cells.

•Design and enigineering of fluorescent probes (organic dyes or fluorescent proteins) for in vivo studies with single event/single molecule resolution.
•Detection of binding events using fluorescent solvatochromic biosensors.

Research Activity:

• 1st October 2009 to present: IIT Post-Doctoral Fellow at IIT@NEST- Center for Nanotechnology Innovation, Nanomedicine division. Project: development of fluorescent biosensors based on solvatochromic probes for in vivo imaging.

• 1st September 2008- 31th August 2009: Post-doctoral Fellow at NEST-CNR-INFM-Scuola Normale Superiore. Project title: "Intracellular probes of proteins in native state based on fluorescent solvatochromic dyes".
• 1st July 2007-2nd June 2008: Post-Doctoral Fellow at Scuola Normale Superiore. Project title: "Synthesis and characterization of new fluorescent biomarkers".
• 9th September 2006-16th March 2007: internship in the Process Research Laboratory at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, Biberach a.d. Riss, DE. Total synthesis of process impurities, development of synthetic sequences directed towards industrial scale-up.
