We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated candidates to carry out a research project on the topic “Functionalization of surfaces with biomolecules and nanostructures for advanced diagnostics and drug delivery”. The nature of the project is multidisciplinary and its aims are the development of novel materials for sensing and biological applications.
The successful candidate will play a significant role in the development of:
- sensing devices based on innovative materials and/or technologies
- nano-vectors for the controlled release of drugs in specific targets.
He/She will be working on a challenging project covering the fields of chemical synthesis, surface functionalization, biology, and analytical techniques (TEM, SERS, optical microscopy and spectroscopy).
The final long term goal of the project is the application of the products to real medical issues.
Eligible candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry, molecular biophysics or related fields and at least two years of postdoctoral research activity.
Excellent communication skills in English, as well as marked enthusiasm for research and creativity, are mandatory.
- strong background in chemical synthesis of metal/metal-oxide nanostructures and functional (bio)molecules
- documented expertise on coating of nanoparticles and the characterization of their chemical and physical properties are highly regarded;
A previous experience of imaging and spectroscopic techniques is a plus but it is not mandatory.
We value scientists who can carry out interdisciplinary research projects with a high level of independence yet work in close collaboration with other scientists with complementary expertise.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of physicist, chemists and biologists is mandatory.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive package commensurate to qualifications and experience.
Please apply before March 30, 2014.
In order to comply with the Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), we have to kindly ask the candidate to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
